An expedition medic deploys with the team. Equipped, in contact, one medical lead holding the clinical picture and the authority to make the hard calls.

When it goes wrong
Evacuation and repatriation routes set before departure. 24/7 remote senior clinical support throughout. Local services and insurers briefed. When something serious happens, the response is already written down.
The objective changes. The standard does not.
Proof
Arctic Expedition Racing
GEM supports serious, remote expeditions from planning through to the last day in the field: the medical and risk plan, the deployed expedition medic, and extraction and repatriation routes set before departure.
The Spine Arctic Race is a unique expedition event that attracts adventurers from around the world to attempt the 292-mile Kungsleden Trail in Arctic Sweden. GEM provides full medical cover as an integral part of the event delivery team.

GEM teams are fully insured and indemnified. Every medic holds personal medical indemnity specific to their role, profession and experience, reviewed to meet our standards of cover.
